Mimi Rousse was searching for a way to remember the service and patriotism of her late husband, Brigadier General William Rousse. She found that opportunity in her generous donation of the flag pole at Givens Gerber Park. The flag pole was dedicated on May 18th, 2019 in the Givens Gerber Park Courtyard.
General Rousse’s military career spanned more than 26 years. His long career include overseas tours of duty with the Armored Division, Comptroller and Deputy Chief of Staff Resource Manager, and two combat tours in Vietnam. General Rousse felt his most noteworthy assignment during his military career was being selected to lead the first combat air cavalry squadron in the US Army. Having served on study groups that questioned the practical role of helicopters in combat, he was especially proud of the universal validation that these combat squads received under his command.
We are so honored to have this beautiful new flagpole and garden area at Givens Gerber Park!
